What we do - profile

As a scientific and educational institution, the Department of Constitutional and European Law provides teaching in accredited compulsory subjects such as constitutional law, political science, constitutional justice and European Union law, while also offering a wide range of compulsory elective subjects focused on theory and legal practice. The department also provides instruction in many foreign-language courses intended for Czech and foreign students, mainly in English and German. The department also offers rigorous studies in the fields of constitutional law and European Union law, leading to the title of JUDr. The team focuses primarily on scientific activities in the field of constitutional and European law with a multidisciplinary overlap. The main focus is on the current legal regulation of the given branches of law and its development. Research activities focus in particular on the rule of law, the separation of powers and the protection of human rights in the context of constitutional and EU law. At the same time, we follow current trends in the case law of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.Team members are involved collectively or individually in various projects at the faculty and university levels, as well as in international cooperation (EÚS ČR-BY 2014-2020 Project No. 68, Die gemeinsame Grenzregion Böhmen-Bayern Überwinden der rechtlichen Hindernisse in den Bereichen Verwaltung, Wirtschaft, Soziales und Gesundheit [The Czech-Bavarian Cross-Border Region: Overcoming Legal Obstacles in the Areas of Administration, Economy, Social Affairs and Health]). ‘The Czech-Bavarian Cross-Border Region: Overcoming Legal Barriers in the Fields of Administration, Economy, Social Affairs and Health’). Team members also work on internal projects in cooperation with students (e.g. SGS projects). The team also works on contract research projects commissioned by clients from the public sector, such as the Parliament of the Czech Republic and the Czech Association of Satellite Operators, and from the private sector, such as law firms and Atlas Consulting s.r.o.Team members are actively involved in or even organise national and international conferences with their own contributions to domestic and foreign scientific journals and publications. Individual and collective publishing activities are among the team's other ongoing activities. commentary, monographs, journal articles and textbooks. Interdepartmental cooperation with domestic scientific institutions (PF UK, PF MU. PF UPOL) and foreign institutions (Poland, Italy, Germany, Slovakia).
